4/20 is upon us. It is nigh!
And in the holiday spirit, I wanted to (finally) share a fully compiled list of the things that I use in my kitchen, my garden and in my stash box. These are things that make using cannabis easy, fun and affordable and have made medicating (and recreating) with cannabis an absolute joy for me.

CBD Oil + Tinctures (In my pack: NuLeaf and Green Dragon Tincture mixed with Honey)

Cannabis Cooking (In my pack: Nova + MB2 + tCheck)
In order to make the highest quality edibles, I have a few gadgets that help me quickly and easily get ready for 4/20 or really… any time of year (it’s always 4/20 at my house). When making edibles, I use the following method:
- Decarb with a Nova Decarboxylator to make sure the THC is fully activated and that I’m not losing money and material from over or under decarboxylating my cannabis.
- Infuse oil in an MB2 – the “set it and forget it” gadget for cannabis cooking.
- Test potency with the tCheck so I can make accurately dosed edibles, every time.
I’ve posted other ways for you to make cannabis oil (mason jar, crockpot) and will have tons more in my new book, Dazed + Infused (small batch, stovetop, sunfused). But this is what I use.
Homemade Edibles (In my pack: Brownies + Gummies + Lollipops + Crispy Treats)
I’m cursed guys… Somehow I always get talked into doing a spring cleanse right before April 20th. Fucking wtf is wrong with me? This year I’ll still be on my no sugar, no booze, no coffee, no wheat, no egg, no bullshit cleanse. So thank goddess that I have some super healthy vegan and paleo edibles in my arsenal.
This year, I’m whipping up:

Everything will be extremely microdosed of course, because it’s going to be a nomnomnom kind of day. Pro tip: make an un-infused batch in case the munchies hit and you want more of that thing.
It is so so important that on this sacred day of freely celebrating the herb that we take care of our bodies. I personally don’t think there’s anything fun, exciting or liberating about getting way too high, locking myself to a couch and eatin all of the Natural Cheetos. It’s just not my jam at the moment.
So one of the things I’ll do to avoid the munchies and to keep feeling good on all of my 4/20 adventures is to stay extra hydrated. I’ll drink about a gallon of water on 4/20, which will help me balance my blood sugar, keep from overeating and will leave me feeling like a million bucks the next day. #unsolicitedhealthcoachadvice
Yeah, I said it… Protein is part of my #420survivalpack. Nerd ALERT. I just feel so much better when my blood sugar is balanced and eating protein is a great way to do that. It can be tough to get in enough of the P to the R to the OTEIN on holidays like 4/20, so I’ll have some of this Raw Greens Powder and a scoop of Vital Proteins Collagen in a smoothie to accompany my morning Wake + Bake and kick off the day.
Ugggh. I just love Matcha. I’m drinking it right. Now.
It’s a great coffee replacement (for those of us who tend to get anxious and paranoid when taking cannabis, skipping coffee is the best idea you’ll have on April 20th). PLUS, it’s full of antioxidants and minerals. And it’s sooo freaking green. Matcha is like the hippie 4/20 equivilant of green beer of St. Patricks day, so I’ll be packing it in my survival pack to keep me going all day long.
