One of the things I love about cannabis is that it has the power to make you feel so much more compassionate, open and grateful.

Which is why it’s such a good match for this week’s US Danksgiving. (I’m so sorry I missed Canadian Thanksgiving again!).

Even if you’re north of the border or anywhere else around the world, I hope these cannabis-infused holiday recipes get you into a mood of gratitude.

And since this blog is as much about health and wellbeing as it is about cannabis, today I want to talk about how powerful gratitude is when it comes to transforming your health and life and how -if you’re like me- cannabis can help you be in a more natural state of gratitude.

Why Giving Thanks – once a year – Just Isn’t Enough

The studies on gratitude are inspiring and conclusive. Simply put… practicing gratitude = a better life.

The simple act of having a gratitude journal for as little as three weeks or writing letters of gratitude to someone in your life (even if you don’t send them) have been shown to have lasting effects on our mental health.

Gratitude also has been shown to improve our relationships, help us sleep better and can make us 25% happier.

And if you’re reading this and you’re struggling with things like depression and anxiety, you might think that gratitude is for people who are already have their shit together.

If that’s you, please hear me out.

Gratitude is for you too.

Actively practicing gratitude has been shown to help alleviate depression and may play an important role in preventing suicide. It’s not just for people who already feel good and it’s not something that can be done just once a year.

These effects that I’m talking about take time. They take practice. In many of the studies, participants didn’t show any real change for a couple of weeks. But those results lasted for months after the gratitude writing exercises stopped.

So if you’re like everyone else and you’re getting bombarded with messages about how this Thursday is a day for being thankful, I want you to know that that’s complete BS. It’s just not enough.

Creating a Gratitude Practice (that you’ll actually do)

Journaling 3 times a week, even making a short list for 15 minutes, can radically improve your outlook and your mood. And when you improve your outlook and your mood, it’s so much easier to heal, grow and transform.

Like I said earlier – for me – cannabis makes this process so much easier.

After a 1:1 microdose in the morning, I find myself naturally being more grateful. It almost feels as if my eyes open up to the beauty that already exists in my life, no matter how difficult what I’m going through is.

And as my anxiety decreases and the tension begins to drain out of my muscles, dwelling on the good seems much more natural.

So, instead of thinking of thanksgiving as a day to be grateful, I want to invite you to see it as a kick off to your new gratitude practice (if you don’t already have one).

This can look like list making, gratitude meditations, or just sitting around noticing things you’re grateful for. The important thing is to commit to something that you know you’ll actually do.

So… Who’s in? Let me know in the comments below if you’re ready to start a new gratitude practice and how you’re going to do it! I can’t wait to hear your plan.

Alright! Now let’s get to some cannabis-infused thanksgiving recipes that will help transport you into an attitude of gratitude.

  1. This Thanksgiving will be very different in this house. However, I am grateful for helpful and knowledgeable medical professionals, that my new disease is not as bad as I thought so far, that I have a best friend who mother hen’s me ( to the point that I have to growl at him and say, ” Hey look, I can actually do stuff, so step back some, Please”! ( depends on my mood, how those words a paraphrased ). I’m greatful for little things, like not having to trudge through the snow, yet, like people on the Eastern coast. I grow some personal plants and use them daily in one form or another. I even eat the raw leaves, so I am greatful that those girls are around to help me through all of this ….stuff. Family is far away in CA. I’m in AK, but I’ll call or they will. Cooking won’t be as lavishly presented and some recipes will be left out…..and used at Christmas instead. It will be a quiet, warm, Thanksgiving. My girls will help that happen.

  2. Researchers found the helpful side of Cannabis. Cannabis is known as for addiction only but now it can be our Alternative Medicine. Cannabis now has many benefits that will be good for your health. Cannabis oil is produced by extracting the resin of the female cannabis plant using a solvent. After the resin is dissolved in the solvent, It is evaporated leaving a concentrated extract behind. CBD Oil is a type of oil that contains CBD but does not contain THC which can give you a high efficiency. CBD Oil is from that cannabis flower, However, Cannabis now is proven that can help people to relieve pains or lessen seizure attacks. I have read many articles suggesting that cannabis has a very potent effect when it comes with pain and inflammation like this strain on
