I’ve been using the Magical Butter MB2 for over 6 years now. And in 6 years a lot has happened.
High CBD and CBG cannabis can now be shipped to your doorstep.
Cannabis legalization movements are winning all over the world (go Canada!)
And people are really starting to get that cannabis can be used as a health tool as long as you know how to do it.
One thing that hasn’t changed is the Magical Butter Machine.
It’s a cannabis and herbal infusion device that has stood the test of time, a workhorse in the cannabis kitchen and an affordable option. I put it through the test of 3 cannabis cookbooks and infinite batches of cannabis infused coconut oil.
If you’re looking to infuse large batches of cannabis oils, tinctures and butter at a reasonable price, the MB2 may be a good option for you.
But there have also been a lot of advances in the cannabis kitchen gadget world.
Over the years, new devices have come on the scene like the Nova, the Levo 2 and the newest all-in-one Ardent Flex.
The Magical Butter is the most affordable of all of the options, but how does it stack up and does it give you what you really need?
Magical Butter MB2 Review
What exactly does the Magical Butter do?
From MB2:
The MagicalButter MB2e is the world’s first countertop botanical extractor, designed for infusing the essence of cannabis and other herbs into butter, oil, alcohol, lotions, and more!
Combining an immersion blender with a programmable thermostat and heating unit, the MB machine is designed to create incredible recipes and botanical infusions with little or no labor.
The MagicalButter machine grinds, heats, stirs, and steeps your herbal extract, all at the correct time intervals and temperature for a perfect infusion every time. As a result, you achieve your desired infusion easily, safely, and consistently.
How do you infuse in it?
- Put all of your ingredients in.
- Choose the time and temperature settings that work for your infusion.
- Walk away. No stirring. No babysitting. No worries.
- Strain using the included filters and love glove and store your infusion or tincture in the fridge or in a cool dark place.
That’s it. It’s a very simple process that takes very little brainpower or elbow grease from you and provides consistent results.
PRO tip: If you’re using a solid coconut oil or butter, add it in before you put in the herb. The MB2 heats from the bottom and can overheat your plant material before the oil or butter melts. I’m sure it says that somewhere in the manual, but if you’re a manual scanner like me, I don’t want you to have to learn that one the hard way.
Magical Butter Pros and Cons
I’m a huge fan of pros and cons lists. So let’s do this.
Pros:
- It’s the most affordable cannabis kitchen gadget. The Magical Butter MB2 is the most affordable infusion device out there. You can get one for $174.95. When you use the code WAKEANDBAKE, you get an extra 20% off, making the device only $139.96.
- Great customer service. There are knock off brands out there, but the reason MB2 is worth it is because their customer service is amazing. They stand by their product, are there to help and have been around for a long time.
- Large Batches. It’s the largest capacity infusion device and you can infuse from 2-5 cups of oil/butter in each batch. This is great for large batches of CBD or CBG oil for daily use.
- Auto Stir/Grind. We now know that you don’t need to grind or stir your plant material in order to make potent oil, but some people still prefer it. If you’re looking for a machine that grinds your material for you, this is the only one on the market that does that.
- Lots of accessories. Love gloves, filters, gummy and butter molds, the decarbox… the folks at Magical Butter have tricked this thing out with accessories.
- Temperature and Time Settings. You can choose different temps and times depending on what you’re infusing. There’s a guide to choosing time and temperature in the manual so you don’t have to guess.
- Self Cleaning Option
- Fun vibe! The colorful flashing lights really jazz up the kitchen and get you really excited about whatever infusion is in there.
- Versatile. Great for more than just cannabis oil or butter. I love it for quick tinctures, herbal infusions and body care.
- Smell reduction. it’s not smell proof, like the FX but it’s much much better than the crockpot and just as solid as the mason jar method.
Cons:
- It doesn’t do small batches. There’s a minimum fill line that takes about 2 cups of material and oil. If you don’t have access to a decent amount of cannabis (at least 14 grams/half oz) and oil, or you don’t want to make large batches, the MB2 probably isn’t the best option. For smaller batches, check out the Nova, FX or the Levo 2.
- Doesn’t decarb. This is one of the biggest cons. You’ll have to do this step separately in the oven, in the decarb box by Magical Butter or in a Nova. If you’re looking for an all in one, decarb-infuse-bake option (and you have it in your budget), I highly recommend checking out the Ardent FX.

Disclaimer: This is not intended as medical advice. I’m not a doctor. I’m also not a lawyer and can’t defend you if you get busted trying to make this recipe in a state that still considers possession or cultivation of cannabis a criminal act. I don’t agree with this law, but I’d never advocate that you break it. Jail would suck. Instead, I strongly advise that you work to change the law in your state or nation by supporting and being active in grassroots organizations that are trying to legalize cannabis in your area (they’re everywhere). This recipe is heretoforth only intended for people who live in states or countries where medical or recreational use of cannabis is legal, who are 21 and older, of sound mind and who understand that operating heavy machinery (cars, trucks, planes, etc.) under the influence of any intoxicant, including marijuana, is incredibly dangerous, immature, and wholly stupid. Please don’t ever eat and drive. Support public transportation or use the two legs that evolution gave you and walk your sweet ass wherever it is that you need to go.
Hello, this will be my first time infusing coconut oil. The recipe says 1 cup cannabis 7gr- 1/4 oz. my issue is after I decarbed I ground it, not to powder, but fine, so my measurement is off. I know this is elementary ? But instead of using one cup l can weight out 1/4 oz. I am using a crockpot today. I plan to order the magic butter machine. So do I understand correctly for each cup of coconut oil use 1/4 oz cannabis..thank you and FYI I’ve made butter using the water method many times, I am excited to use the mb. Keep doing what you do and have a wonderful fall day.
I need one of these so bad for me and my friends that deal with pain everyday. Someday.
Love this stuff
Still just entering the giveaway and hoping like heck.
I am telling the universe I REALLLLLY need to win one of the three that you are giving away. If the universe decides that 3 other people are in greater need than I am, then I will come back and be happy to have this coupon!! (PS…I made coconut oil and cannalube using your recipes. The oil is awesome…brownie, nom nom nom. My lube on the other hand whipped but no where near what I would call luscious. I used Shea butter. I will try again!! Thanks for being there and being real. Blessings!)
I love this site and your blog! I have been making placenta tinctures for postpartum mothers for the last 7 years. I’m so excited to include cannabis tinctures to my skill set. I really hope I win your giveaway. I am excited to expand my abilities in cannabis therapies for myself and my community. ?
Hi Corinne,
I just wanted to write to say that how much I look forward to your emails, love your blog. This email a chance to win the Magical Butter Machine is just one more thing you are doing to change our lives. THANK YOU
I read your article, “Wake and Bake,” make your receipts. I can’t tell you how much it has changed the way I see edibles, oils, and tinctures.
I am a mother of four that due to a very bad accident has learned how to manage my pain with out destroying my health. Your love of cannabis and your talents in the kitchen has been a life line for me.
Blessing from Montana,
Ms Bo
Thanks for all the tips tricks and review of mb2. I own one also and make some amazing infusions with this machine.
What she said. I can’t wait.
Hi, I’m trying to find my way to a happier body, after 2 wowzer hip surgeries that should have helped more than they did. I’m managing on pain meds but would really rather not. But, I’ve yet to find a suitable replacement. Need to experiment more with THIS natural method of pain relief and I would prefer not to smoke as I have asthma. And I totally love reading your stuff here. Keep it up!
This would make the PERFECT gift for my daughter and son-in-law. He uses edibles a LOT and, since he grows (legally, he has a medical card) they also make their own cannabutter for them, this would be great.
The MB2 is GREAt for making medibles, but you can also make rosemary oil, orange syrup, and many, many other lovely delectables.
I look forward to using this.
I’m quite new to all this. Not in the partaking of or in consuming of cannabis but new to cooking with it! I recently tried juicing some bud trim, and I don’t feel juice is for me, I would much rather learn how to cook with it! So your free downloadable ebook is going to come in very useful, thank you ?
I am also grateful for the chance at winning this absolutely fantastic product! I can’t begin to describe how much of a ‘god send’ it would be right now and if I won then happy days, if not then maybe ganja Santa might leave me one? Haha! ?
Thank you for this great review, it’s given me something worthy to save up for as well useful information I’m gonna need in my journey of cooking with cannabis ❤️??
Good luck to all that enters ??
I’m new to this too. I really want to win this for my sister

I have one use to make tinctures I do not like edibles I never really feel anything eating it for some reason and I’ve eaten b utter that people say a half brownie and they comatose for a day I eat a couple of the same brownies and I might yawn!
Whoa boy on tinctures though! I use the same amount to make a tincture and I use a teaspoon in the am and whenever an ache or pain hits me during the day! Usually I do not use more than 3 tablespoons of tincture a day! I function , cook walk my dogs feed them take care cleaning washing my house to stay functional, thing works great on everything IMHO!

Thanks for all your do!
Hi Corrine, I’d like to thank you for this second chance to win an MB2…
Your books and this machine are snubbed by a big group that got me started making my own tinctures and Canna butter… like you tho, I’m not a kitchen person, lol… I want to prove them ALL wrong! As I only need mention Wake and bake, and I’m quickly told, ahhhh….” There all about the high!” So my responce is always the same,,, “Then you must not of looked into very far, hmmmm?” So either I’ll teach them a few things thx to you, or snooze they lose? Very HAPPY I found you, and so are my Dr’s…. Merry Christmas to all involved with *Wake and bake * Cheers⚘
Ooooh I really want one. So much I could do with this.

Cool Gizmo! I’d like to get one. Enjoy all the W&B articles.

Hi Corinne! Thank you for the second chance to win one of these babies! I love cooking and I’d love to learn how to use this awesome machine.
Have used the MB2 twice now and love the results!!!!!
I am so hoping to win this item. I am very involved in the cannabis community in san diego and it would be so awesome to have this item in my kitchen. I love infusing butter since it is one of the best cooking ingredients as far as my kitchen. I am a very busy person and have to sit a lot for work so this would be a beautiful addition to simplify my life. I am sending all the vibes in the universe so this baby can come home to me Lol
I received an email about this product and am looking forward to purchasing one as soon as I can. Looks like it would be so much easier to use than the traditional method.

I like the whole idea of this machine and it’s ease of use. since I have limited funds I am going to continue to try and win one. I currently make my own tinctures for muscle relaxation and stress relief. I wish you well
Been making cannabis Infused coconut oil in the crock pot. Definitely looking into getting a MB as well as one of those decarb machines. Oh and I absolutely love wake and bake. Keep up the good work Corinne! Lots of stoner love.
As a Vegan, I love baking edibles. This lovely machine would make it easy to make V butter
Thank you for your insightful blog.
Peace & rainbows from Mass.
Hi Corrine! I am hoping to change my life with this wonderful magical butter maker and infuser. And help others along the way.
I was thinking about that awesome Cashew pie. I had to make it w/o the cannabutter, and still want more!! Darn nut prices are crazy. I was lucky to receive some fresh pecans. That would be pretty g??d. Got to get cracking. Happy Warm Greetings to You?✨
Dear ?,
Please pick me as a winner. Thank you ?
Bought your cookbooks and love them!! I’ve made your salve and can’t wait to make more. I could definitely use a MB2…definitely.
you share the best stuff!! thank you so much 🙂
I so wish I could win one of these. I should get my MMJ card this week then can start using Cannabis to help me heal from Chronic Lyme Disease, Fibromyalgia, and Syringomyelia as well as arthritis. Thank you for offering us a chance to win one.
Currently I make my cannabutter in a mason jar in either a crock pot or the oven. I would love to have a MB2! Someday, hopefully, I will.
Thanks for the great review!
Love my MagicalButter machine. So easy to use and cleanup is a snap. Thank You.

Thanks for the recommendation and anyone thinking about buying this machine it’s worth it
I am so pleased with your machine I’m entering the contest to win one for my friend
I have heard wonderful things about this and so want to get one, but can’t afford one right now. I’m entered in the contest so we will see.
I can think of sooo many things to do with one of those! Fingers crossed!!
I simply don’t have the endurance to cook my medical needs over a 24 hr period… So this is a definite need… Fingers crossed… For everyone!⚘
I need this in my life!
Had one for three years now, budder turns out perfect every time, potent tinctures and oils, love it. I actually could probably put another into use! Great site with good info as well, tx
The Magical Butter machine is the Keurig Coffee maker of butter makers.
Just drop in the butter and the grass, push the button and come back 2 hours later to perfect canna butter.
Clean up is a little work, but it is well worth it.
This is the one!
I read your blog on the Nova and MB Machine. Do you reccommend getting both? Or is the MB a good decarber?
Thanks for the discounts Corinne! I own the Ardent Decarboxylator and just ordered the Magical Butter. Can’t wait to kick my rheumatoid arthritis back with my home remedies! Cheers!
So glad I found this site! I’m a newbie and you are so informative. So, I still need to Decarb with the magical butter machine, or does this amazing machine do that as well? I’m thinking not, but I just want to make sure.
Unfortunately, the MB2 doesn’t do a full decarb. Maybe the MB3 will do that… fingers crossed!
Does the finished product separate the chlorophyll out? I have been using my slow cooker and I mix water, herb and oil. After cooking, I strain and freeze. Then I pour off the chlorophyll water. Does the Magical Butter Machine eliminate this step?
Thanks,
Gia
Pingback: Cannabis Coconut Oil vs. Cannabutter: The Best Oils for Edibles and Cannabis Infusions | Wake & Bake
Hi,
What is your “go to” recipe for infusing cannabis in coconut oil, using the MBM2? I just got my machine and am excited make my first batch of oil.
Thank you
I use the one on this site 😉
Much love,
C
I am in the research stage of making cannabis tinctures for my brother who has been diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. At the moment, he can still use his vaporizer but unfortunately there will come a time when the disease progress will make it impossible. I read your article on making tinctures and I have decided to try using vegetable glycerin. You state that using the heat method speeds up the process but sacrifices potency. My question is this: if I start out using the heat method via a Magical Butter Machine, can I then get more potency if I transfer bud and glycerin into a mason jar and let it steep for a month or more? I’ve already pre-ordered the Ardent Decarboxylator and will be ordering the Magical Butter machine later today. Thanking you in advance in anticipation for a reply to my question.
warm regards ~ Christine
Id keep my temps low with my ingredients being stirred every few minutes for about 30-40 minutes. If you start two batches, the first one smaller, then you could start using the small one right away and put the larger one in the dark to infuse longer. Makes it stronger without using more heat. Should be kept cool and mixed/shaken at least once a day. Store for at least 2 weeks (month is even better) It will decarb naturally with age as well. Add small amounts of fresh ingredients days or so will also allow the new surfaces to interact and release more cannabinoids into the glycerine. Remember tho, glycerine is a water soluble solvent so while the heat will help bring out the oil soluble products somewhat, the greens used will still have cannabinoids stuck in it. If you use ethanol (or other suitable solvent) it takes both water and fat soluble products out of the greens. Youll still get a potent product but a fuller blend (different solvents different results) Cheers n g’luck?
So here is a question about batch size.
The min is 2cups
Which is like 1oz of herb per 2cups.
If I only have 1/2oz of herb, can I use 1 cup of oil and 1 cup of water…let it do its thing, then just put it in the fridge after and let things separate and harden?
Or would that end up taking away some potency?
I’m trying to create a CBD-rich tincture, light on the THC. I’ve read elsewhere that NOT decarboxylating the cannabis will accomplish this. True? Sounds too easy. Thanks!
Related: What’s the difference between THC-A and CBD?
THC-A is the non-activated form of THC. CBD is a completely different cannabinoid and chemical compound. I encourage you to check out my blog post: THCa/THC. I’ll have a similar article up soon about CBDa/CBD as well.
Nope – definitely not that easy. In order to make a CBD-rich tincture, you need to start with a CBD-rich strain, and yes, it will still need to be decarbed. CBDA (before it’s decarbed) does have some benefit, but CBD is much more bioavailable to the body and has a amplified effect. In other words it takes a lot more raw cannabinoids to get the same effect as activated (decarbed) cannabinoids. However, edibles produced from non-decarbed bud do offer health benefit, you likely won’t see the same effects. Great questions!
Do you have a current coupon code?
Hi Aleta!
Is the wakeandbake one not working?
Much love,
Corinne
The coupon code here isn’t working 🙁
Oh no Jessi! Can you try it again. I just tried it and it looks like it’s working now…
Just FYI, I tried to purchase the mb2e bakers kit using your link and coupon code, but no discount… you may want to follow up with those folks.

Is there currently a discount code for the MB2?
Yes! You can use WAKEANDBAKE for 20% off your whole order.
I tried the WAKEANDBAKE code on the website and it says it’s not valid. I’d love to make some edibles for my family and friends!
Love the machine but there seems to be a lot of wasted butter. The other day made a bat h with 3 cups of butter and only was able to squeeze out 2 cups of finished product. What an I do to squeeze out more product?
I use an Ardent exclusively now, and this is one of the reasons. There’s a lot of wasted oil/butter when using an MB2. I’ve used a potato ricer in the past. Others have had success using French presses. It’s kind of a messy affair. I’ll update this post soon to reflect what we’ve learned since the last update.
